The massive container ship Ever Given became horizontally wedged in the waterway because of low visibility and heavy wind. The vessel, halting the traffic in one of the world’s busiest waterways, the Suez Canal, is still stuck though some measures have been made to dislodge the ship.

Instead of shaft-drive transmission system that applied in cargo container vessel, modern ships, especially luxury cruise ships and military vessels now tend to take up gearless steerable propulsion systems. In such system, an electrical drive motor is in a submerged pod. The propeller unit can rotate 360 degrees to increase maneuverability and operating efficiency, with the proven ability to cut fuel consumption by up to 20 percent compared to traditional shaftline propulsion systems. Slip rings are irreplaceable components in the system.

LPA000-034000 JINPAT large current slip ring for ship podded propeller adopt module design. This slip ring consists of 3 major modules, namely the large current module, the weak current module and the pneumatic/hydraulic module. In the former part, there are 3 4000A channels. And in the weak current module, there are six 6A channels, two 3A channels and seventy-two signal channels. As for the pneumatic hydraulic module, there are 11 liquid channels and 1 gas channel. Such slip ring model is with high protection level and demonstrates great shock and impact endurance, excellent water proof.
