A marine podded propulsion and steering system is a revised vessel propulsion system. Compared to the conventional marine propulsion system, it offers more flexibility in maneuverability and it more energy-efficient. The podded propulsion and steering system developed by ABB, also called Azipod, takes up module design. This system consists of two part, the steering module and the propulsion module. The steering module is azimuthing constantly by 360°. JINPAT Marine Propulsion Slip Ring, Large Current Slip Ring

JINPAT marine propulsion slip rings are custom solutions. In today’s market place, the power rating of the podded propulsion system ranges from 1000W to 20MW. JINPAT Electronics is capable of developing slip rings under 10MW. JINPAT marine propulsion slip rings are sub-genre of the large current slip ring. Single channel power capacity reaches up to 4000A, but the working voltage is only 690VAC. So to fit in the circuit of 3,300VAC and 6,600VAC, some adjustment should be made. After some upgrades, JINPAT slip rings can also fulfill the requirement of the 30MW podded system.
