The slip ring is a key part installed inside all kinds of cranes. It is mainly responsible for the transmission of various special signals, such as power signals, ship control signals, analog signals and digital signals.


The offshore crane is mainly used in the marine vessels, drillings and other platforms, so as to handle cargo and lift personnel to the platform. It is the most important equipment for offshore oil production, with strict requirements on its security, reliability, maintainability, wind resistance and corrosion resistance.


Due to the harsh marine environment, it is necessary to ensure the environmental adaptability of the slip ring, so that it can work normally in damp air, smoke, oil mist, hull vibration and impact. The working temperature shall be -10° c to +50° c, the working humidity shall be within 95%RH, and the current transmitted shall be over 100A.


Based on the field investigation and customer feedback of offshore cranes, JINPAT Electronics has customized carbon brush slip rings for various types of offshore cranes, with the following technical strengths:


As the electrical contact of the slip ring, the carbon brush provides continuous contact with the surface of the rotary ring to conduct the current and signals. Compared with the precious metal slip ring, it transmits larger current with lower cost. Therefore, offshore cranes generally adopt carbon brush slip rings.


It can transmit large current of more than 100A-4000A, with the inner diameter up to 980mm, and the voltage up to more than 6000V. The slip-ring is designed to have precise and practical structure, with the IP rating up to 68.


The key materials and process are precisely in place, and JINPAT Electronics has special material composition analyzer, hardness tester, 2.5D projector, etc., which can effectively monitor the raw materials, surface coating, hardness and dimensional accuracy of the fiber brush and copper ring.


For the contact material, it adopts high-quality graphite alloy. With stability, high speed, long service life, it can integrate multi-channel data signals including power, fiber optic, high frequency and other signals.


The carbon brush is designed with a replaceable structure, and the service life can be improved through regular maintenance. The equipment should be inspected every other month, and more frequently under high-load operation. The structure design of the maintenance window ensures convenience, reliable performance and beautiful appearance.


To meet the needs of foreign customers, JINPAT Electronics designed the carbon brush slip ring LPA000-09800-01PE-3020-04L, with the height up to 3 m, the volume of more than 5 m³, the multiple channels, the large current, and the rotary union, including 9 channels of 800 A, 1channel grounded, 30 channels of 20 A. At the same time, the slip ring integrates 4 channels of large aperture fluid rotary joint to transmit high temperature liquid medium, witch is difficult to design and integrate. In order to facilitate the cleaning and maintenance, the carbon brush slip-ring is designed in an open frame with detachable maintenance windows around. Accepted by the customers, it has been successfully applied to the floating cranes.
